Last updated November 2026: the best restaurants in Koh Chang cluster along the west coast at White Sand Beach, Klong Prao, Kai Bae and Lonely Beach. Pick dinner near where you sleep, because the main road ends at Klong Kloi and evening trips across the island are slow. Our six picks below are sorted by beach, with the best meal, the vibe and a skip-if note for each. For the wider island plan, start with our Koh Chang things to do guide.

6 Best Restaurants in Koh Chang by Area

Every venue below is named in a recent travel guide to the island, not checked in person by us. Hours and open status shift by season, so confirm each one on Google Maps or the venue's own page before you walk over. Prices are described as tiers only, since no sourced baht menus were available.

  • 1. Babylon, White Sand Beach (Italian, dinner)
    • Pizza and pasta, run by an Italian chef according to a travel guide. Best for an easy first-night dinner after the ferry.
    • Skip if you want a quiet table. White Sand is the island's busiest, most developed strip.
  • 2. Sol Beach Restaurant, northern Klong Prao (Thai and Western, breakfast and sunset)
    • Beachfront tables with sea views and a long breakfast menu. A travel guide reports live music on Fridays and DJs on Saturdays.
    • Skip if you are staying across the Klong Plu river. Walking around by the main road takes 30-40 minutes.
  • 3. Rimlay Seafood, southern Klong Prao (seafood, lunch)
    • Beachfront seafood next to Santhiya Tree Resort. A reasonable lunch stop if you are already on the southern half of the bay.
    • Skip at high tide if you want sand underfoot. This stretch of beach nearly disappears then.
  • 4. Khao Kwan Restaurant, Kai Bae (modern Thai, dinner)
    • Fusion-style Thai food on Kai Bae's main road, where restaurants sit side by side. Good for couples and anyone wanting a sit-down evening.
    • Skip if you want your toes in the sand. Kai Bae's restaurants line the road, not the water.
  • 5. Koh Chang Wine Gallery, Kai Bae (Greek, dinner)
    • Greek dishes plus wine, which makes a change from a week of curry. Mid-range in feel.
    • Skip if you are on a tight budget. Pick a market stall instead.
  • 6. Magic Garden Restaurant, Lonely Beach (Thai, budget dinner)
    • Cozy Thai restaurant described as reasonably priced, with yellow curry singled out by a travel guide. Best for backpackers and budget travelers.
    • Skip if you want a quiet night. Lonely Beach's bar strip plays loud music late.

Bang Bao and the East Coast: Seafood and Local Eating

Bang Bao pier is the usual answer for seafood over the water. Family-run places near Salak Kok and Salak Phet on the east side are the other local option. We could not verify specific venues for either area, so we name none. Check Google Maps for current listings and opening times before making the trip. Plan the east coast as a daytime outing, since the road does not loop. Reaching it from the south means backtracking north along the west coast. Our Koh Chang transport guide covers the routes.

Night Market and Cheap Eats

White Sand Beach has a small night market beside the Muay Thai gym. A travel guide lists satay, grilled octopus, fresh fruit and roti among the stalls. It is the cheapest sit-or-stand dinner in this guide, and you can sample several dishes. Our Koh Chang night market guide has more detail. After eating, see Koh Chang nightlife options for drinks and live music.

How to Choose Where to Eat

Start with your base, not the menu. Klong Prao beach runs about 1.5 km, and its facilities are spread out. Crossing the river to the other half takes a 30-40 minute walk by the main road. White Sand suits convenience and variety. Kai Bae suits sit-down dinners, and Lonely Beach suits budget eating. Our guide to where to stay helps you pick a base. Tables on the sand add atmosphere. White Sand is crowded in high season, from November to February, with restaurants putting out sunbeds and chairs. Road-side tables are quieter and often easier to walk into. See our Koh Chang beach guide for how each strip compares.

Tip

Arriving by ferry points you toward White Sand, which is about a 10-minute drive from the pier and suits convenience.

Getting to Dinner: Transport and Night Safety

Eat within walking distance of your bed on most nights. Koh Chang is hilly, with steep, curving roads that turn slippery in rain. A travel guide notes that motorbike accidents on the island are among the highest in Thailand. Do not ride after drinking. Ask your hotel about a taxi or songthaew for longer evening trips, and agree on the return before you go. If you arrive by ferry, White Sand Beach is about a 10-minute drive from the pier. That makes it a practical first dinner. Our Koh Chang ferry guide covers the crossing.

Mistakes to Avoid

Do not assume every restaurant opens year-round. Low-season closures are common on island beaches, so check Google Maps on the day. Rain also affects evening plans, and the Thai Meteorological Department publishes forecasts. Our best time to visit guide explains the seasons. Avoid staying at one end of the island and eating at the other. The road ends at Klong Kloi, so cross-island dinners eat up your evening. Finally, treat any single list, including this one, as a starting point and check current reviews.

Good to know

Staying across the river from your dinner spot means a 30-40 minute walk by the main road, which eats into the evening.
