Last updated November 2026: Ubon Ratchathani nightlife is a small, bar-street scene rather than a club district. Most of it sits on Thepyothi Rd and Phichitrangsan Rd, where five listed venues fall within about 650 m of each other. Plan one walkable evening instead of a long crawl, and use the sections below to pick a route.

Ubon Ratchathani nightlife at a glance

Ubon is an Isan university city, and its after-dark scene is modest. Expect a handful of music bars, one cocktail bar and a night market, not rows of clubs. Venue hours below come from a single aggregator, so treat them as listed hours and confirm on the night. Weekends are busiest, and festival weeks change the pace. For daytime plans, start with our guide to 8 Best Things to Do in Ubon Ratchathani (2026 Guide). Undecided about the trip itself? Read whether Ubon is worth visiting first.

Distances below are approximate walking figures from Mixx66, taken from a third-party listing. Check each stop on a map and confirm it is still open before you head out. Ratings on aggregators are indicative, not endorsements.

  • Mixx66 Escap Of Music, 50 Phichitrangsan Rd: a music-led bar, listed 19:00–05:00 daily, mid-range (฿฿).
  • Masuk Ubon, 124 Thepyothi Rd, about 390 m from Mixx66: a relaxed evening bar for an easy first drink.
  • U-BAR UBON, 117 Thepyothi Rd, about 400 m from Mixx66: a nightclub-style venue with an indoor music area and an outdoor area, listed until 2am.
  • The Closet Cocktail Bar, 130 Phichitrangsan Rd, about 520 m from Mixx66: the pick for cocktails over beer.
  • BARN Sakpha, 38/2 Thepyothi Rd, about 650 m from Mixx66: a bar and pub listed open until midnight.

Early evening before the bars: night market and food

Sponsored

Thung Sri Muang Night Market is listed as opening from about 16:30 each evening. Eat there first for Isan street food, then walk or ride to the bars. Our guide to the Ubon night market covers what to order. Wat Maha Wanaram Phra Aram Luang sits about 510 m from Mixx66 and works as a short pre-bar stop at dusk.

Tip

Thung Sri Muang opens from 16:30, so a market dinner fits before Mixx66 opens at 19:00.

Sample night plans

Pick a plan by how late you want to stay out. Spacing between venues is short, so the real trade-off is closing time, not distance. Walking times assume an easy pace in the heat.

Hours, closing times and what things cost

Sponsored

Most venues list a legal closing time of 2am, though enforcement varies. Mixx66 is listed until 05:00, which runs later than that usual cutoff. Confirm its actual closing time on the night. Hours can also change on Thai public holidays. Price tiers are the only cost evidence available: Mixx66, Masuk Ubon, U-BAR UBON and The Closet are all listed at ฿฿ mid-range. No drink or cover-charge prices are sourced, so check each venue's social page or menu before ordering.

Where to stay for a night out

Sleeping near Thepyothi Rd lets you walk home after the 2am closings. A quieter base costs less in noise but adds a ride each night. Hotel names below are examples from a listing page, not recommendations, and prices are dynamic, so check current rates. Rapeepan Ville Hotel is described as about 3 km from the center, so it suits quiet sleepers, not bar-hoppers. If you land late, read our Ubon airport guide. Arriving from the capital? Good to know

Rapeepan Ville Hotel sits about 3 km from the center, so a late ride back means a Grab, since songthaews are hard to rely on after dark.

Getting around and getting home safely

Set up Grab before you go out and keep your phone charged. Street taxis outside nightlife areas often refuse meters late at night. Songthaews are cheap by day but hard to rely on after dark. Tuk-tuk and samlor drivers quote fixed prices, so agree the fare first. Some clubs check ID, so carry a photo of your passport page or a copy. Watch your drink and never leave it unattended. Listed emergency numbers are 191 for police, 1155 for Tourist Police and 1669 for an ambulance. Confirm them against an official Thai source before you travel. Trains end at the station in Warin Chamrap, south of the center, so check the State Railway of Thailand timetable for late arrivals.

Best time to go

November to February is the coolest and most reliable stretch for evenings out. July brings the Candle Festival, so book rooms ahead. April is the hottest month. Burning season can affect air quality, so check conditions before you plan outdoor drinks. For forecasts, use the Thai Meteorological Department. Month-by-month detail is in our Ubon weather guide.

Common mistakes to avoid

Sponsored

Most problems come from over-planning a small scene. Keep the list short and verify before you go.

  • Trusting a single listed closing time: Mixx66 shows 05:00 while a 2am rule applies to most venues.
  • Walking the full 650 m chain without checking that each bar is still open.
  • Waiting until midnight to install Grab.
  • Booking the 3 km quiet hotel, then relying on street taxis for the ride back.
  • Arriving in July without a room.
