Last updated November 2026. Krabi markets are mostly evening affairs, and several run only on certain days, so pick by weekday and by where you sleep. Krabi Town and Ao Nang each have their own option, and this page helps you choose between them.

Krabi Markets at a Glance

Four options cover most trips. Sources we reviewed disagree on opening hours, with one evening start given as 17:30 and another window beginning at 16:00. Treat every time below as unconfirmed and check locally on the day. Our guide has no verified entry fee or parking information, so none is stated.

Which Krabi Market Fits You

Start with the day you are free. If you can only go midweek, the weekend Walking Street is likely closed, so look at Kong Kha or the Ao Nang market instead. If you are in town on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, Walking Street is the one most sources single out.

Your base matters as much as the calendar. Staying in Ao Nang without a car means the local night market is the low-effort choice. Staying in Krabi Town puts three of the four options within reach of your hotel. Short stays and one-night visitors should pick a single market rather than trying to chain two.

  • Only free on a weekday: Kong Kha or Ao Nang, after checking days locally.
  • Weekend in Krabi Town: Walking Street.
  • Dinner first: Kong Kha night market.
  • Souvenirs and browsing: Walking Street, then the Ao Nang stalls.
  • Cooking or ingredients: the Krabi Town fresh market.

Krabi Town Markets

Krabi Town holds the widest choice. Kong Kha is the practical dinner option. Walking Street is the one built for a slow stroll. For hours, stall layout and what to order, our dedicated night market guide goes deeper. For weekend specifics, read the weekend Walking Street guide.

The fresh market suits a different mood. It is a place to see produce and everyday shopping rather than to sit down for a meal. Pair it with a wander through Krabi Town's old quarter if you are staying nearby.

Ao Nang Markets

Ao Nang has its own night market, which makes sense when your days are spent on the beach. You skip the cross-district trip and can be back at your hotel quickly. One snippet used the name Landmark for it, but we could not confirm that. Ask your hotel for the current name, days and hours.

Sunset and a market make an easy pairing. Check our sunset viewing guide and then walk to dinner.

What to Eat, Buy and Budget

Expect grilled and fried street food, desserts, handicrafts and clothing at the evening markets. We have no verified menu prices, so no baht figures appear here. Carry small notes and coins in baht, compare a few stalls before buying, and avoid eating only at the entrance stalls.

For a cheaper evening, markets usually cost less than a sit-down meal at the places in our Krabi restaurant picks. For gifts, see Shopping in Krabi: Malls, Night Markets & Souvenirs. If you want to learn the dishes yourself, try a Krabi Cooking Class: How to Choose the Right One.

Getting There and Getting Back

Moving between Ao Nang and Krabi Town is the main logistics question. We have no verified fares or evening schedules, so confirm both with your hotel before you go. The real risk is the return trip, because markets can close later than transport thins out.

Agree a way back before you leave. Our guide to local transport options covers the choices. Arriving from elsewhere? See how to reach Krabi.

Timing, Weather and Crowds

Weekend evenings are the busiest, especially at Walking Street. Arrive early if you want room to browse and a choice of food stalls. Rain can shut open-air stalls, so check the Thai Meteorological Department forecast before heading out.

Tip

One listed window opens at 16:00, while another gives 17:30, so on weekends when crowds peak, arrive early rather than trusting either time.

Season also shapes the trip. See our notes on the best time to visit. Wet days call for a fallback, and our list of rainy-day ideas in Krabi has one.

Mistakes to Avoid at Krabi Markets

Most problems come from stale information. Use this checklist before you go.

  • Arriving on a closed day: confirm the weekday first.
  • Trusting old hours: online times differ, so check on the day.
  • No return transport: sort your ride back before dinner.
  • Eating only at the entrance: walk further in before choosing.
  • Carrying only large notes: bring small baht.

Planning the Rest of the Evening

A market works best as one part of a night out. Start with sunset, eat at a stall, then decide whether to continue. For later options, see Krabi Nightlife Guide: Ao Nang, Krabi Town & Railay. Frequently Asked Questions

Does Krabi have a night market?

Yes. Krabi Town has the Kong Kha night market and a weekend Walking Street, and Ao Nang has its own night market. Days and hours vary, so check locally before you go.

Is Krabi Thailand expensive?

We have no verified price data, so we cannot give figures. Street-food markets are generally a lower-cost way to eat than sit-down restaurants. Compare a few stalls and keep small baht notes handy.
