Last updated November 2026: every Koh Kood ferry from the mainland leaves Laem Sok pier near Trat, and most schedules put the crossing at about 1 hour. Last boats leave in mid-afternoon, with 16:00 the latest departure several sources list. A same-day trip from Bangkok therefore needs a start around 05:00, so use this page to pick a boat, a pier and a fallback.

Boats to Koh Kood leave from Laem Sok, on a peninsula about 20 minutes' drive from Trat town. They land at Ao Salad pier on the island's northeast side. Sources disagree on crossing time: 40 to 45 minutes is claimed for the fastest catamarans, and 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes appears on most timetables. Treat 1 hour as the planning figure. For the overview of all routes, see our guide on getting to Koh Kood. Fares and times below come from operator and booking-site listings checked in November 2026, so confirm them with the operator before you travel.

  • Standard Laem Sok to Koh Kood fare: about ฿600 on most listings
  • Last boat to the island: 16:00 in high season
  • Cheapest seat: Koh Kood Princess, listed at ฿350 to ฿600 depending on the source
  • Missed the last boat: sleep near Laem Sok pier, because no public boat runs later

Koh Kood Ferry Ports: Laem Sok, Ao Salad and Others

Laem Sok is the only mainland port for Koh Kood boats. One source puts it about 20 minutes from Trat town, and another says about 30 km, so allow extra time. Koh Chang piers are around 45 minutes' drive away, and Trat Airport is about an hour away. Big ferries and catamarans use the main Laem Sok pier, which has waiting areas, toilets and car parks. A separate 'Coral pier' sits about 5 minutes' drive away. Speedboats, including Koh Kood Express's, often use it, but not always. Laem Ngop is a different mainland town, about 16 km from Trat, and most Koh Mak speedboats leave from there. Do not book a Koh Mak speedboat ticket if you want Koh Kood.

  • Ao Salad: island pier for ferries and catamarans, on the northeast coast
  • Resort piers: used by speedboats, with the exact drop-off set by your ticket
  • Bang Bao: Koh Chang departure point for Boonsiri and Bang Bao Boat
  • Ao Nid: Koh Mak pier used by Boonsiri, Koh Kood Express and Seudamgo

Pick by your arrival time, not by price. Lunchtime arrivals at Laem Sok have three or four boats to choose from. Anything after 16:00 has none. Use the table to match your situation.

Timetable Snapshot: High vs Low Season

High season runs 1 October to mid May, according to one booking site. Low season runs 16 May to 15 October. In high season, Laem Sok departures listed for Koh Kood run from 10:00 to 16:00, and Koh Kood to Laem Sok departures run from 09:00 to 14:30. Low season has far fewer sailings. One listing shows six Laem Sok departures between 10:45 and 16:00. Speedboats stop and some ferries go into annual maintenance. Check conditions through the Thai Meteorological Department forecast before you commit to a tight connection. Our Best Time to Visit Koh Kood: Month-by-Month Weather & Boat Access page covers season trade-offs beyond the boats.

  • High season, first boat: 10:00 from Laem Sok (Koh Kood Express)
  • High season, last boat: 16:00 (Seudamgo and Koh Kood Express)
  • Low season, last boat: 16:00 (Seudamgo)

From Bangkok and Trat Airport to Laem Sok Pier

Driving from Suvarnabhumi or a Bangkok hotel takes about 5 to 5.5 hours, with a quick stop. Covered pier parking is listed at ฿50 per day. Public buses from Bangkok to Trat cost ฿316 to ฿700 and take 5 to 8 hours. Boonsiri's bus and boat leaves the Khao San area at 05:30 and 08:00 in high season for ฿850, per one site. Another listing puts Bangkok-to-island tickets at ฿1,100 to ฿1,150, so check both. A private car from a Bangkok hotel starts at ฿4,400. Flights into Trat on PG301 or PG305 make a same-day crossing possible. Late arrivals from Don Mueang need to land before 05:00, and from Suvarnabhumi before 06:00. Koh Chang, Koh Mak and Koh Wai Connections

Koh Chang to Koh Kood takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, including a short stop at Koh Mak. High-season fares run ฿700 for the wooden Bang Bao boat to ฿1,200 for speedboats. Boonsiri is listed at ฿750 to ฿1,000. Low-season service is thin: one site says only Boonsiri sails, with one daily Koh Chang departure at 13:00. Be ready to return to the mainland if it is cancelled. Koh Mak to Koh Kood takes about 30 minutes at ฿500 on Koh Kood Express. Koh Wai to Koh Kood is 45 minutes at ฿800 by speedboat. Our Koh Kood Island Hopping: Routes from Koh Mak & Koh Chang (2026) guide covers what to do at each stop.

Booking, Luggage, Cars and Pets

Sponsored

No vehicle ferries serve Koh Kood, so cars stay in pier parking at ฿50 per day. Advance booking is usually unnecessary outside New Year and Songkran, but island rooms were reportedly fully booked in the 2024-25 high season. Book boats and rooms early for peak dates. Pet rules depend on the operator, so ask before buying a ticket. Expect rough water in low season and keep valuables in a dry bag.

Tip

Driving from Bangkok takes 5 to 5.5 hours, and pier parking at Laem Sok costs ฿50 per day.

Missed the Last Boat? Mistakes to Avoid

Late arrivals cannot reach the island by public boat. A private speedboat is quoted at roughly ฿15,000 to ฿20,000 one way, which is unverified. A night near Laem Sok is cheaper. The 16:00 departure in the table above is the last one, but listings differ, so confirm it.

Tip

Suvarnabhumi arrivals need to land before 06:00 for a same-day crossing, and a missed last boat means a night near Laem Sok.

  • Booking a Koh Mak speedboat that leaves from Laem Ngop
  • Assuming the Bangkok bus will beat the 16:00 cutoff without slack
  • Skipping the connection guarantee on a bus-and-boat combined ticket
  • Forgetting that Koh Kood Express speedboat transfers do not cover the mainland leg
  • Trusting one timetable site without checking the operator

Arriving on Koh Kood

Ferries and catamarans dock at Ao Salad pier in the northeast, and the ticket includes a taxi to your resort. Koh Kood Express speedboats instead serve resort piers on the west coast. Staying at the north end, for example Baan Makkok, shortens the trip by about 20 minutes compared with the south. Choose your base with our Where to Stay in Koh Kood: 6 Best Areas by Budget page.
