Last updated November 2026. Bangkok nightlife is organised by district, so the right night depends on budget, music taste and how late you want to stay out. Sukhumvit, RCA, Silom, Khao San Road and the rooftop belt each suit a different evening. Pick an area first, then follow the links to the rooftop, bar, speakeasy, jazz and cabaret guides.

Bangkok Nightlife at a Glance

Sukhumvit Soi 11 puts several clubs on one street, which suits first-timers. Thong Lor and Ekkamai skew Thai and pricier. RCA sits out of the centre, so plan on a taxi. Khao San Road is the low-budget option, with street buckets reported around 250 THB. Price tiers below are relative, not quoted fares.

Each area below fits a different traveler. Venue hours change often, so confirm opening days on the official page or social account before you go.

  • Sukhumvit Soi 11 and Nana
    • Soi 11 is the first-timer pick, with clubs and bars along one lane. Reported walking time from BTS Nana is about 10 minutes to the middle of the street.
    • Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy are red-light strips nearby. Treat them as orientation, not a recommendation, and read the safety section first.
  • Thong Lor and Ekkamai
    • Thai-leaning clubs cluster here, often with standing tables and bottle service. ID checks are reported at the door.
    • Ekkamai Soi 7 is reported as about a 15-minute walk from BTS Ekkamai, so a taxi is easier late at night.
  • RCA (Royal City Avenue)
    • RCA is a strip of large clubs popular with university-age crowds. Reported entry ranges from free to about 300 THB.
    • Public transit is a poor fit after midnight here. Book a taxi or rideshare for the return.
  • Silom and Patpong
    • Silom suits theatrical venues, including show-style bars in hotel basements. Patpong is another red-light area, best treated as a market-and-orientation stop.
    • Pair a Silom evening with the Bangkok cabaret show guide if you want a seated show first.
  • Khao San Road and Banglamphu
    • Khao San Road runs roughly 800 m and fills with bars and bucket stalls after sunset. Buckets are reported near 250 THB.
    • A club on the road is reported at about 200 THB entry. Dress codes are relaxed compared with Sukhumvit.
  • The rooftop belt
    • Sky bars suit a sunset start before moving on to a street-level crawl. Expect the highest drink prices of any option here.
    • Our rooftop bars in Bangkok page covers where to begin the evening.

Rooftop Bars: Where to Start the Evening

Rooftops work best as the first stop, before queues build at street-level clubs. Many have their own dress expectations, so smart-casual shoes are safer than sandals. One club-bar is reported on the 39th floor of Sathorn Square Tower, with hours from 8pm, but confirm it is still operating. Browse our guide to Bangkok rooftop bars for current options by neighborhood. Another riverside option is the Asiatique riverfront night market, which suits a relaxed start. Check its official site for opening hours.

Bars, Speakeasies and Jazz: Lower-Key Nights

Not every night needs a dance floor. Bar-hopping along Sukhumvit works on a small budget, and our Bangkok bars guide sorts options by style. Hidden-door cocktail rooms are covered in the Bangkok speakeasy guide. For live music, use the Bangkok jazz bar guide. One Cuban-themed speakeasy on Soi 11 is reported to run 6pm to midnight, but verify before planning around it.

Clubs and Dance Venues

Sponsored

Dance clubs concentrate in three places: Soi 11, Thong Lor and Ekkamai, and RCA. Reported covers run from free to about 300 THB, often including one drink. Named venues change hands quickly, so confirm that a club is still open before building a night around it. Free-entry venues usually make money on drinks, so budget for a first round on arrival.

Shows and Cabaret

Seated shows are a calmer alternative to a club. Silom is the area to look at first, since one theatrical venue is reported in a hotel basement on Silom Road, with hours from 8pm. Our Bangkok cabaret show guide covers show types and booking. Ask whether a ticket includes a drink before you pay.

Costs, Cover Charges and Opening Hours

Prices below come from a single 2026 published guide and are not venue-confirmed. Treat them as a planning range and ask at the door. A typical cover of 300 THB often includes a drink. Beer is reported near 150 THB and cocktails at 200 to 300 THB. One bottle-service club is reported at about 3,000 THB per bottle, with ice and mixers extra.

Dress Codes, ID and Entry Rules

Sponsored

Most Sukhumvit and RCA clubs enforce a dress code. Shorts, flip-flops and tank tops are reported to be refused, while sneakers and plain t-shirts are generally fine. Carry your passport or a photo ID, since some Thai-leaning clubs in Ekkamai are reported to refuse entry without it, even to people over 30. Khao San Road has no dress code in practice.

Getting Around and Getting Home Late

Soi 11 is about a 10-minute walk from BTS Nana, and Ekkamai Soi 7 is about 15 minutes from BTS Ekkamai. Rail is practical for the outbound trip. For the return, plan on a metered taxi or rideshare, especially from RCA. Last-train times change, so check the BTS and MRT operators' official sites for the current schedule. Insist on the meter or an app-booked fare before you get in.

Good to know

Ekkamai Soi 7 sits about a 15-minute walk from BTS Ekkamai, and some clubs there may refuse entry without ID even to people over 30.

Where to Stay for Nightlife

Sukhumvit near Nana puts you within a 10-minute walk of Soi 11, but street noise runs late. Silom works for show bars and hotel venues. Khao San is the cheapest base, and also the loudest. For quieter sleep, stay one or two BTS stops from the party area and take a taxi home.

Tip

Khao San Road runs roughly 800 m, and the cheapest base for a night out is also the loudest.

Safety, Scams and Common Mistakes

Most problems are avoidable. Skip any bar that will not show a menu with prices. Cover charges that include a drink are normal, but a surprise bill at a go-go bar is not, so confirm drink prices before ordering. Go-go bars are free to enter, and a lady drink there is reported at a price similar to a beer. Bottle-service clubs expect a table purchase, not single drinks. Never leave a drink unattended on Khao San Road. Refused entry for dress or ID is the most common mistake, so check both before queuing.

Sample Nights: Budget, Classic and Splurge

Sponsored

Budget: spend the evening on Khao San Road, with buckets near 250 THB and a club entry near 200 THB. Classic: start at a rooftop from our rooftop bar list, then walk Soi 11 for a club with a 300 THB cover. Splurge: book a bottle table in Thong Lor, and take a taxi both ways. Rideshare beats rail on all three after midnight.
