Last updated November 2026: Bangkok to Koh Yao Noi is a four-step trip, because the island is reachable only by boat. No direct flight, through-ticket or Bangkok departure pier exists. You go from Bangkok to Phuket or Krabi, then to a pier, then by speedboat to Manoh Pier or Laem Sai Pier.

Bangkok to Koh Yao Noi: the route in one paragraph

Koh Yao Noi has no airport and no bridge, so every trip ends on a boat. Step one is getting from Bangkok to Phuket or Krabi. Step two is a road transfer to a departure pier. Step three is a speedboat that takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour from Phuket piers. Finally, you land at Manoh Pier, the busiest on the island, or at Laem Sai Pier. Boat-only fares start around ฿400 from Phuket and ฿646 from most Krabi piers. Both figures are indicative, so confirm them with the operator. Routes from other origins are covered in our guide to reaching the island.

Choosing your gateway: Phuket or Krabi

Phuket gives you the most departures. Bang Rong Pier on the northeast coast is the busiest launch point. Laem Hin Pier and Phuket Boat Lagoon sit roughly midway along the east coast. Both have fewer boats but suit Phuket Town and the southern beaches. Krabi spreads its boats across four piers. Tha Len is the budget pick at about ฿250 to ฿300. Nopparat Thara is nearer Ao Nang, while East Railay and Ao Nammao fill in the rest. Check flight arrival times on the Phuket Airport site before you pick a departure.

Good to know

A Phuket Airport landing after 17:00 may mean missing the last boat, since Bang Rong's latest listed departure is 17:00.

Getting from Bangkok to the gateway

This guide has no confirmed fares or durations for the Bangkok leg. Check flights from Suvarnabhumi on the Suvarnabhumi Airport site, and ask the train or bus operator for overland times.

Pier-by-pier: where your boat leaves and lands

Manoh Pier sits on the south coast, roughly opposite Chong Lard Pier on Ko Yao Yai. Most Phuket and Krabi boats land here. Laem Sai Pier lies about 6 km east of Manoh by road. Fewer operators use it, though Tha Len and Bang Rong services do. Sikha Pier on the west coast serves the slow Phang Nga ferry. That ferry costs ฿150 and leaves at 07:30 Monday to Saturday for a 90-minute crossing. Return boats leave Tha Dan at 13:00 every day except Sunday. Longtails to Ko Yao Yai cost about ฿20 and take 10 to 15 minutes. Some resorts run their own transfers, and these may involve wading ashore. Onward options on land are in our island transport notes.

  • Bang Rong, Phuket: busiest departure point, northeast coast.
  • Laem Hin and Phuket Boat Lagoon, Phuket: roughly midway along the east coast, fewer boats.
  • Tha Len, Krabi: cheapest option, speedboat or longtail.
  • Nopparat Thara, Krabi: closer to Ao Nang.
  • East Railay floating pier and Ao Nammao, Krabi: further departure choices.

Speedboat fares and times (indicative)

Timetables below come from a 2026 listing and shift with season, so treat them as indicative. Latest boat in that listing leaves Bang Rong at 17:00. Krabi departures end earlier, with the last at 16:00 from Tha Len and 15:40 from East Railay. That sets a practical cutoff for same-day arrival from Bangkok. Boat-only fares exclude pickup. Full operator lists sit in our Koh Yao Noi ferry guide.

Door-to-door scenarios

Three patterns cover most trips: a ฿1,250 express from Ao Nammao, a ฿250 longtail from Tha Len, and a flexible Bang Rong run with eight departures. Each trades money against flexibility. Total door-to-door time also depends on the Bangkok leg, which this guide does not quantify.

  • Fast but costly: Tigerline from Ao Nammao to Manoh at 14:30, about 45 minutes, from ฿1,250.
  • Cheapest: Thanchanok Tour longtail from Tha Len to Laem Sai at 13:00, about 1 hour, from ฿250.
  • Flexible: Koh Yao King Marine from Bang Rong to Manoh, eight departures between 08:40 and 17:00, from ฿500.

Weather, season and booking tips

Boats are seasonal. One operator listing puts the best months at November to April, when seas are calmer. Wet season thins the schedule, and bad weather can halt boats for days. Check sea and rain forecasts with the Thai Meteorological Department before you fly. Month-by-month advice is in our timing guide for the island. In high season, book at least a couple of days ahead. Return tickets save little and cost flexibility. Any Phuket or Krabi boat that takes over about 1.5 hours likely follows a milk-run route. If a speedboat looks overloaded or conditions look unsafe, wait for the next one.

Mistakes to avoid

Most problems come from timing, not distance. Arrive at the pier at least 30 minutes before departure. Budget ฿100 to ฿300 extra if you want hotel pickup in Phuket.

  • Tight connections: avoid a boat-to-longhaul-flight link, especially in wet season.
  • Wrong pier: confirm whether your boat lands at Manoh or Laem Sai, which are about 6 km apart.
  • Odd routing: reject tickets showing more than about 1.5 hours.
  • Missing the last boat: the latest listed departure is 17:00 from Bang Rong, and Krabi boats leave earlier.
  • Skipping the pickup surcharge: fares shown are boat only.

Where to stay by arrival pier, and who the island suits

Sponsored

Base yourself by arrival pier rather than by hotel list. Resorts with included transfers deliver you to the door, even when that means wading ashore. Self-arrivals land at Manoh or Laem Sai. Pick-up trucks at the piers charge ฿100 to ฿200 per person. Motorbikes rent for ฿250 to ฿350 a day. Koh Yao Noi is quiet, with no nightlife and few conveniences. Travelers who want evenings out should base in Phuket or Krabi instead. Read whether the island suits you before booking boats. Then plan days from our list of island activities.

Tip

Tha Len's ฿250 longtail lands at Laem Sai, which sits about 6 km east of Manoh by road, not at Manoh.
